Situated just across from the Rockefeller Center in the heart of New York, the historic building of St. Patrick's Cathedral stands proudly next to a modern, office block. The cathedral is the main place of worship for over two million Roman Catholics in the city and the vast interior can seat around 2,500 people. Constructed between 1850 to 1878 at a cost of USD 2 million, the two front spires were added shortly afterwards.

Highlights include an enormous pipe organ, with more than 7,000 pipes, regular services throughout the day and there are even television monitors in areas with a restricted view.

Cathedral of St. John the Divine

New York's majestic Cathedral of St. John the Divine is situated in the Upper West Side of the city. This huge cathedral is not only the largest cathedral in the city, but is actually the third largest cathedral in the world, after St. Peter's Basilica in Rome and Our Lady Cathedral in Yamoussoukro in the Ivory Coast. Highlights of the cathedral include stunning architecture, a cavernous interior, magnificent stained glass windows, a poet's corner and a beautiful altar. The first cornerstone of this impressive cathedral was laid in 1892 and construction is still not yet complete, with many years of work yet to come.

St. Mark's-in-the-Bowery Church

St. Mark's-in-the-Bowery Church is located in the East Village, where it remains an important place of worship in the city. Originally built in 1660, the church was later destroyed and then completely rebuilt again in the late 18th century and is now one of the oldest churches in New York. St. Mark's-in-the-Bowery Church was badly damaged by fire in 1978 and subsequently restored, using many stunning abstract stained-glass windows.

St. Thomas Church

Saint Thomas Church is situated in the center of Midtown and was founded in 1823. This ancient cathedral is now surrounded by tall, modern skyscrapers, which reflect it's beauty. Features include stunning architecture, a superb choir and guided tours on Sunday.
